Loss of the Butter (19th century) 


This solid 3 masted ship of 700 tons was lost on her way from London to Australia, not far from Beachy Head, in 25 fathoms of water.

She had a very rich cargo of more than £ 100.000, as well as passengers of good families willing to settle in Australia with considerable amount of property.

Only one passenger survived...
