Total loss of the Portuguese steamer Cais (19th century)


The steamer was totally lost 15 milles off the harbour of Port-Vendres with  an ore  cargo.

On board, the captain lost a sum of 104.000 French Francs loaded in 3 boxes sunk with the ship.

The crew was saved by a passing ship.
