Thailand Pottery Wreck Diving pt2
The Gulf of Thailand is littered with thousands of shipwrecks sunk during centuries of international trade between Siam and the rest of Asia. Many of these ships carried cargos manufactured in China, transhipped through Thailand that were loaded onto ships in Bangkoks busy commercial port. Pottery dating back to the Ming Dynasty and earlier litters the seabed. Diving these historic wrecks should only be conducted with the cooperation of the Thai Archeology department who, in conjunction with the Thai Navy, maintains a keen watch over the many historic wreck sites involved..
